The Land Banks bill is on the move! It was amended and then voted out of the House Urban Affairs Committee in December. Help us keep it moving forward. We have a strong bill which will allow counties and municipalities to establish public entities – land banks - to systematically remove problem properties from an endless cycle of vacancy, abandonment, and tax foreclosure, and return them to productive use. The bill, HB 1682, protects homeowners and banks, and it is good for our communities! Yes, the land banks train has left the station! Developers and municipalities are all on board. But now it is idling at its next stop – the House floor. Contact your state representative today and ask him or her to vote YES on HB 1682. Urge your representative to tell leadership to schedule the bill for a vote so it can move on down the tracks to the Senate and then to the Governor’s desk.
